automated guided vehicle

= AGV
A self-propelled vehicle guided by cables set in the floor, by radio or microwave transmitters, by onboard computer, or by optical guidance systems. AGVs are used to transport materials or components without human intervention. They are most often used in manufacturing plants, especially if these involve hazardous chemicals or structures, where AGVs can form an integrated part of the process design, replacing conveyor belts, etc.
